Temple volleyball's Sandra Sydlik has been named the Under Armour OwlSports.com Athlete of the Week for her performances in helping lead the Owls to three sweeps in three matches on Sept. 19-20. Temple won the team title at the Big 5 Tournament, defeating La Salle, Villanova and host Penn in straight sets. For her efforts, Sydlik was also named to the American Athletic Conference Weekly Honor Roll.
Sydlik was named the Big 5 Tournament MVP and to the Big 5 All-Tournament Team along with Kirsten Overton. Sydlik averaged 11.75 assists per set, playing in eight of nine sets for the Owls. She recorded assists on 41 of the Owls' 51 kills in a sweep of Villanova, and on 34 of 44 kills in a sweep of Penn.
Sydlik made it a double-double against Penn, adding 11 digs to 34 assists while also serving up a match-best three aces and tying for match-high honors with five blocks. She served up a total of seven aces in eight sets (0.88 aces per set).
