Anthony Anderson was at the time the second leading ground-gainer in Temple football history. He earned both All-American and All-East honors following the 1976 season. He led the Owls in rushing in the1976 and 1977 seasons. Carrying the ball for 583 times, he racked up 2,610 yards in those two seasons. He ran for 22 touchdowns including 11 TD's in 1977. In 1976, he gained 803 yards while averaging 4.6 yards a carry. One of his top performances was against Drake in 1977 when he netted 217 yards and scored twice in the Owls' 42-0 victory. He was able to reach the 100 yard mark four times and his second best output was 159 yards against Akron in 1976. After graduating, he went on to play professionally with the Pittsburgh Steelers (where he earned a Super Bowl ring), Atlanta Falcons and Philadelphia Stars.
