Guy Rodgers was once the highest scorer in Temple basketball history with 1,767 points in three varsity seasons. He was first team All-American as Owls compiled 74-16 record during "Rodgers Era" under Harry Litwack. At the time, he held the University records for most assists one game (15 against Manhattan) and most assists one season (185 in 1956-57). He was named most valuable player as Temple captured the 1957 Holiday Festival. Following graduation, he became an All-Pro guard in the National Basketball Association. He toured with the College All Stars against the Harlem Globetrotters and won MVP honors.
