Owls go 2-0 to start the season at the Temple Invitational

PHILADELPHIA – Sophomore Katie Briglia's goal with just under seven minutes elapsed in the contest proved to be the game-winner for Temple field hockey in a 1-0 win against Fairfield (0-2). The Owls are now 2-0 for the season after their two contests in this weekend's Temple Invitational.
The goal, which was the first of Briglia's career at Temple, came off a rebounded shot by teammate Bridget Settles and subsequent save by Fairfield's Maddy Sposito.
The Owls held Fairfield without a single shot until the final two minutes of the game. Temple senior goalkeeper Sarah Dalrymple made one save with just over a minute left in the contest.
TU recorded 16 shots, on which Sposito made eight saves for Fairfield. Temple took five penalty corners in the game compared to just one for the Stags.
The Owls will return to action on the road next Friday, Sept. 3 in a 3:00 p.m. game at St. Francis (PA).
