PHILADELPHIA - Temple lacrosse will celebrate Friends of Jaclyn Week when George Washington (8-6, 3-2) visits Geasey Field for a 3:30 p.m. game on Friday, April 19. The Owls' adopted sister Lily Adkins and her family will be recognized as part of the now-annual tradition celebrating FOJ, whose mission is to improve the quality of life for children with pediatric brain tumors and their families.

Temple (8-6, 3-2) has two games remaining in its fight to earn a spot in next weekend's Atlantic 10 Championships at UMass. The Owls currently stand in a tie for third place with George Washington, and four teams will earn berths in the tournament.

Temple will honor six seniors prior to its game on Sunday against Richmond in the final contest of the regular season. The team will also recognize members of the 2008 A-10 Champion Owls at halftime of that game. Check back to owlsports.com later in the week for more information about Senior Day.

The FOJ Foundation is a non-profit organization whose mission is to improve the quality of life for children with pediatric brain tumors and their families. Through the “Adopt-a-Child” program, FOJ creates lasting relationships between children battling pediatric brain tumors and athletic teams. The child becomes an honorary team member, gaining a new group of friends, and the team gets inspiration from the child. FOJ's programs are based on love, support, and friendship between the child, the child's family, and his or her “adopted” team. There are currently over 300 children across the country adopted in twenty different sports. 1,300 teams are waiting to adopt. Friday's game is part of the 2013 Friends of Jaclyn Week to raise awareness about pediatric brain tumors, help support the growth of FOJ, and ultimately help improve the quality of life of children with pediatric brain tumors. Temple is a huge supporter of FOJ.

The team's honorary guests at the game will be the Adkins Family- Mike, Trish, Lily, Chloe and Nicholas. Seven-year old Lily was “adopted” by the Owls three years ago through FOJ, and was the second adoption the team has made through the program. Devon Lam, daughter of Danny and Angela Lam, was the team's first adopted sister who sadly lost her battle with cancer in December, 2008. Lily is a survivor of an ependymoma brain tumor and has been doing well for a number of years, since the discovery and initial treatment of her tumor when she was 14 months old.
