5.16.13 | Men's Track and Field

PHILADELPHIA— On Thursday afternoon, the NCAA officially announced the qualifiers for the 2013 Outdoor Track & Field Regionals. Among the athletes named, sophomore Matthew Kacyon and junior Gabe Pickett have been chosen to represent Temple at North Carolina A&T when the NCAA East Region Preliminary is held May 23-25 at the Irwin Belk Track and Field.

Kacyon has been chosen to compete in the 3000 meter steeplechase—the event that recent graduate Travis Mahoney took part in last season and eventually became Temple's individual All-American in the sport. Kacyon's fastest time this season (8:58.14) ranks 29th in the East Region.

Pickett, who placed second in the triple jump at the Atlantic 10 Championship and third at IC4A's, will participate in the event being held at the Irwin Belk Track & Field. The Vestal, N .Y. native's longest distance of 15.36 meters is ranked for 25th in the East Region.
