Jesse Morgan Opts To Play in Second Semester
11.5.14 | Men's Basketball
PHILADELPHIA - Temple University guard Jesse Morgan, who entered the 2014-15 men's basketball season with one semester of eligibility after transferring from the University of Massachusetts, has opted to play the second semester.
Following an appeal by Temple University, the NCAA extended Morgan's five-year clock to include the spring semester, but did not grant him eligibility for both semesters.
"We fully support Jesse's decision to begin his Temple career in the second semester," said Temple head coach Fran Dunphy. "We were hopeful the NCAA would allow him to play the entire season, but are thankful they provided this relief to Jesse and the University."
"I am thankful the NCAA has allowed me to play in the second semester," said Morgan. "I am looking forward to playing basketball and doing everything I can to help my Temple Owls have a successful season."
Morgan last played during the 2012-13 season for UMass. He was the Minutemen's second leading scorer, averaging 13.4 points per game, before suffering a season ending knee injury in the second half of a game at Saint Louis on January 10.
The Philadelphia native (Olney HS) will miss the first 10 games of the season. The first game he will be eligible to compete will be the Owls' game at Delaware on December 18.
