Special Discounts at Upcoming Basketball Games to Support Philabundance

PHILADELPHIA - Temple Athletics is partnering with The Liacouras Center and Philabundance, Delaware Valley's hunger relief organization, on food drives at two upcoming basketball games.Â
Fans bringing canned food items to the Temple women's game against against Fordham on Sunday, December 7 (2:00 p.m.) at McGonigle Hall will be able to purchase $5 tickets (savings of $2) for the game. Â
Fans bringing canned food items to the Temple men's basketball game versus Towson on Wednesday, December 10 (8:00 p.m.) at the  Liacouras Center Box Office will save $5 off all seats in the arena.
Students who bring in a canned food item will receive free popcorn at our new student-only concession stand, The Perch. Â The Perch also offers other tremendous discounts for Temple students.Â
Philabundance will then pick up the box of donations, weigh the amount of food, and provide Temple Athletics with the total amount, in pounds, of food that was raised.Â
All fans are encouraged to bring canned food items to the support this worthy cause.

The Liacouras Center (http://www.liacourascenter.com), a multi-purpose venue located on Temple University's campus, is positioned along the Avenue of the Arts in Center City, Philadelphia. The venue serves the Temple student body of 37,000 students and the city of Philadelphia as a full entertainment arena featuring concerts, family shows, Temple Men's and Women's Basketball games and more. The Liacouras Center was named one of the busiest arenas in the world by Venues Today, finishing 14th in the world and 10th in the United States for the Mid-Year 2012 rankings, among venues with 10,000 seats and under.
About Philabundance
Philabundance reduces hunger and food insecurity in the Delaware Valley by providing food access to people in need in partnership with organizations and individuals. Philabundance provides a full plate of services through neighborhood distribution programs and a network of nearly 450 member agencies in 9 counties in PA and NJ. Philabundance serves approximately 75,000 people each week at a cost of 50 cents per meal. There are more than 900,000 people in the Delaware Valley who are at risk for chronic hunger and malnutrition. In 2013, Philabundance distributed nearly 30 million pounds of food.
