PRINCETON, N.J. -- Temple University Trustee H.F. "Gerry" Lenfest was recently announced as USRowing's Man of the Year. Lenfest earned the honor for his contributions to Temple's rowing programs.
Lenfest, along with the city of Philadelphia, financed the renovation of the East Park Canoe House, the future home of Temple rowing. He will be honored at the 2014 USRowing Annual Awards Reception presented by Nathan Benderson Park this weekend in his hometown of Jacksonville, Fla.
In an article the USRowing website, Lenfest said that he was surpised when he learned of the award. "It came out of nowhere," he said. "I was very honored and very surprised."
