Academic Success for Temple Field Hockey in Evidence at Breakfast of Champions

PHILADELPHIA - It was an outstanding year for Temple field hockey on the field, but the Owls continued to be just as impressive in the classroom in 2013-14. Temple's academic success is evident in its grade-point-average and honor roll distinctions, and the Owls also earned two special awards at the recent Breakfast of Champions.

Recent graduate

As a team in 2013, the Owls earned the highest GPA among Temple's women's sports with a 3.49. Temple field hockey was also named a 2013 NFHCA Gladiator National Academic Squad and had 17 on its roster named to the NFHCA National Academic Squad with a GPA of 3.30 or higher (Lauren Hunt, Molly Doyle, Lizzy Millen, Haley Mitchell, Nicole Kroener, Tricia Light, Taylor Shronk, Alyssa Delp, Alyssa Hughes, Sarah Deck, Amanda Fuertsch, Katie Foran, Elle Hempt, Paige Gross, Ali Meszaros, Taylor Janney, Michelle Walsh). Of that group, Elle Hempt earned special distinction for having a GPA of 3.9 or higher, and was named an NFHCA National Scholar of Distinction.

Hempt and nine of her teammates were named to Temple's President's Honor Roll for having a GPA of 3.5 or above, while 11 others on the team were named to the Athletic Director's Honor Roll for having a GPA of 3.0 to 3.49.

President's Honor Roll (3.5-4.0 GPA): Elle Hempt, Tricia Light, Amanda Fuertsch, Nicole Kroener, Katie Foran, Sarah Deck, Molly Doyle, Alyssa Delp, Paige Gross, Alyssa Hughes.

Athletic Director's Honor Roll (3.0 -3.49 GPA): Lizzy Millen, Ali Meszaros, Haley Mitchell, Lauren Hunt, Taylor Janney, Taylor Shronk, Michelle Walsh, Mandi Shearer, Kayla Laughman, Erin VanHorn, Amber Youtz.
