PHILADELPHIA - When #13Â Temple field hockey hosts Drexel at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 21, the Owls will be dedicating the game to Phila Field Hockey Day, a celebration of field hockey in the Philadelphia area at all levels: college, high school and youth programs. It is day designed to recognize the present and future greatness of the sport with Phila-area roots. Phila Field Hockey Day is presented by Temple Field Hockey and philafieldhockey.com.Â
The day will kick off with a Philly-powerful Division I field hockey game between Temple and Drexel, followed by a junior field hockey scrimmage between Filia Sports and the Mystx Sprouts. Olympian Claire Laubach will be on hand and will share autographed photos from her USA Field Hockey glory days. Temple and Drexel players will have a meet and greet with fans after the youth scrimmage. All youth teams in attendance will be recognized by name during the opening announcements.Â
Filia Sports and Mystx Sprouts, youth developmental programs, will serve as escorts for the Temple and Drexel players, accompanying them on the field for team introductions. They will also act as ball girls during the game. Filia Sports is based on the Main Line and is directed by Kim Richter and Lynn Dwyer. Mystx Sprouts is located in Feasterville and is directed by Tina Reinprecht and Heather Schweizer.
