Record-Setting Semester in Classroom for Temple Student-Athletes

PHILADELPHIA – For the second consecutive semester, Temple University's student-athletes have recorded their highest combined grade-point average (GPA) on record, Justin Miller, Senior Director at the Nancy & Donald Resnick Academic Support Center for Student-Athletes, announced on Monday.
Temple student-athletes earned a combined 3.09 cumulative grade- point average, which was 0.01 better than the previous record set in the spring of 2014. It also marked the sixth consecutive semester that Temple student-athletes earned a combined 3.00 cumulative grade-point average.
"This was truly a great year for Temple student-athletes," said Vice President/Director of Athletics Kevin Clark. "Nothing makes an athletic director prouder than seeing success in the classroom and 2014 was an exceptional year. I congratulate our student-athletes for their hard work, and also our coaching staffs as well as Justin Miller and his exceptional staff who continue to emphasize the importance of academic success."
Individually, 58.6 percent of the student-athletes (289) earned a 3.0+ GPA during the fall semester, making it the highest fall percentage on record.
Sixty percent of Temple student-athletes currently own a cumulative grade-point average above a 3.00, including 22.4 percent above a 3.50 cumulative grade-point average.
Women's lacrosse (3.51) and men's cross country (3.19) led 16 (out of 19) programs with a 3.0+ combined GPA for the fall.
Overall, 15 programs have a cumulative GPA of better than 3.0, led by women's lacrosse (3.44) and men's tennis (3.37).
