PHILADELPHIA - Matt Rhule, head coach for the #22/24 Temple Owls, has been named to the American Heart Association Paul "Bear" Bryant Coach of the Year Awards watch list.

Â
Presented by Marathon Oil Corporation, The Paul "Bear" Bryant Coach of the Year honor goes to the best coach in the FBS, as determined by the National Sportswriters and Sportscaster Association. The award is presented in Houston on January 13th, 2016. It's the only national coaching award that factors in bowl game performance. Coach Rhule is one of 22 named to the watch list.
Â
The Bryant Awards presented by Marathon Oil Corporation has raised over $6 million in the past 29 years to fund research, advocacy and educational programs across the country that are necessary for the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular disease and stroke. The Bryant Awards offer an opportunity to do just that - to be a part of team Bryant in the fight against heart disease and stroke.
Â
Coach Rhule will lead the Owls into a primetime divisional match-up against East Carolina. Gametime is 7:00 pm on ESPN2.
