PHILADELPHIA - A Temple football tradition that was brought back to the program when Matt Rhule returned to take the reins as head coach in 2013, has been the awarding of single-digit jerseys to the toughest members of the team. Today, two new members joined that select group when junior running back Jahad Thomas and redshirt sophomore linebacker Nick Sharga were presented with their new jerseys.

Thomas, who is in his third season at Temple, has moved from #34 to #5, a number he wore in high school. Sharga who redshirted last season after transfering from West Virginia-Wesleyan, has switched from #90 to #4.

The two players join seven others in the single digits. Senior WR John Christopher (7) and LB Tyler Matakevich (8) have been in single digits since 2013. Last season they were joined by DB Tavon Young (1), LB Avery Williams (2), DB Sean Chandler (3), LB Stephaun Marshall (6), and DL Matt Ioannidis (9).
