Women's Soccer Remains Undefeated, Beats Loyola 4-0
8.28.15 | Women's Soccer
AMBLER, Pa. – Three goals within the first 15 minutes of play gave the Temple women's soccer team enough momentum to defeat Loyola University Maryland, 4-0 on August 28. The Owls move to 3-0-0 on the season and earned head coach Seamus O'Connor his 50th career victory as a women's head coach.
In the fourth minute of the game, senior Kelly Farrell snuck the ball into the net for her third goal of the season. Almost two minutes later, sophomore Elana Falcone was able to take the ball in for a score after a corner kick from senior Kaylee Harner.
Senior Erin Lafferty rounded out the scoring for the game, as she was able to place the ball in the top right corner of the net after a free kick in the 13th minute of the game. Later in the 64th minute, Lafferty would gather her second goal of the game and season on a penalty kick.
Loyola's best chances for a score came on two shots in the second half from Charlotte Miller and Sarah Ensor. Freshman Jordan Nash was once again able to preserve a shutout by saving both shots.
"We're very excited with how the game went today. Today really scared me because Loyola has three really great coaches," said O'Connor. "The girls just respond really well. They are very professional with their approach to the game and executing their set plays. So I was really happy with the start to the game."
The Owls finish up a four-game homestand on Tuesday, September 1 when they face Rider at 4:00 p.m. at Ambler Sports Complex.
