PHILADELPHIA – Head coach Umme Salim-Beasley and the Temple women's gymnastics program is welcoming three national-letter-of-intent signees for the class of 2017. Delany Garin, Jordyn Oster and Erich Fuchs will all arrive on North Broad beginning in August of 2017.
"All three have high levels of difficulty they're bringing with them," said Salim-Beasley. "They will more than replace what we will be losing and really add to the depth on the team."
A 2016 J.O. Nationals qualifier, Delaney Garin hails from Capital Gymnastics in Burke, Va. A "powerful and clean" gymnast, according to Salim-Beasley, Garin most recently took home the Virginia State All-Around title while also placing first on bars and second on beam. She went on to place fourth and the Region 7 Regional Championships with a bronze medal on beam and ultimately finished ninth overall in the all-around at Nationals.
Joining Garin will be the 2016 Maryland State Gymnast of the Year, Jordyn Oster. Hailing from Harford Gymnastics Club in Joppa, Md., Oster will bring high floor difficulty along with potential for a spot as an all-around competitor. At the 2016 Maryland State Championships, Oster placed third all-around and second on bars.
Erica Fuchs of Parkettes in Allentown, Pa. rounds out the 2017 class of recruits. A powerful bars and floor worker, Fuchs most recently placed fourth all-around at the Pennsylvania State Championships in a highly competitive age group. She also earned a silver medal on floor.
"All three girls come from very reputable gyms with strong senses of polish and refinement in their training," said Salim-Beasley. "They have high scores under their belts and all bring potential for all-around spots."
