CHICAGO, Ill. – Temple women's gymnastics logged its top score of the 2016 season at the IGI Chicago Style Meet with a 192.325. The Owls' score ranked third out of the four teams in Friday night's competition. Central Michigan placed first with a 195.125 followed by Northern Illinois' 194.2. Alaska rounded out the teams with a 190.375.

"For us to get a season high on the road is always a good thing," said head coach Umme Salim-Beasley. "We needed this to be able to show that we can hit four events and not count a fall. We still had little things that could have pushed our scores even higher, but tonight was great momentum heading into the rest of the season."

The vault lineup highlighted the night for the Owls where they earned a season-high 48.225. Freshman Aya Mahgoub topped the lineup with a season-high 9.725. Junior Briana Odom was close behind with a stuck vault for a 9.7. Freshman India Anderson and Senior Reagan Oliveri added scores of 9.675 and 9.6, respectively. Senior Michaela Lapent rounded out the lineup with a solid 9.525.

Floor exercise was the highest scoring event for the Owls with three gymnasts earning career-high marks. Odom led the event for the Owls with an impressive 9.85 that ranked third among all floor competitors. Sophomore Sahara Gipson added her career-high 9.775 and Anderson posted a 9.725. Sophomore Alexa Phillip also posted a score above 9.7 with a 9.75, her second highest mark of the season. Overall, the floor team totaled a 48.45, the Owls second-best event score of 2016.

Led by captains Odom and Oliveri, the uneven bars finished with an event total of 48.2. Both Odom and Oliveri posted scores of 9.7. Lapent returned to the bar lineup and earned a season-high 9.625 for her performance. Freshman Breahna Wiczkowski, who has been solid as the Owls lead-off gymnast on the event this season, tallied a 9.6. Phillip anchored the bar team and posted a 9.575.

Beam performances were highlighted by Wiczkowski and Gipson. Leading off on the event, Wiczkowski added her second 9.6 of the night. Gipson posted the highest score on the event with a 9.675, her second highest score of the season. Overall, the beam team earned a 47.35 to finish off their best meet.

Odom led the Owls' all-around competitors with a 38.7 that ranked third overall behind Central Michigan's Taylor Bolender (38.775) and Kasey Janowicz (38.825).

"We accomplished goals we had set out to do this week," said Salim-Beasley. "They fought for every single tenth and we couldn't have asked for anything better."

The Owls next competition will be at Rutgers University on Feb. 20. The quad meet will feature Ursinus and ECAC opponent Penn.
