Men's Soccer Honored at Philadelphia Soccer Six Banquet

PHILADELPHIA – The Philadelphia Soccer Six celebrated a successful 2015 season on Tuesday night by honoring its top teams and players at the annual banquet. The Owls picked up several awards aside from sharing the Philadelphia Soccer Six Team Champion title with Villanova. Head Coach David MacWilliams was also named the Bill Harris Coach of the Year after leading the Owls to a 10-win season and first national ranking since 1997.
Jorge Gomez Sanchez swept two categories, leading the Soccer Six in goals (13) and points (31). These marks also landed Gomez Sanchez in the Owls' record books where he currently sits in a tie for fifth in single season goals and sixth in single season points.
Freshman Belal Mohamed earned the William "Bill" Wilkinson Freshman of the Year award after totaling three goals and six assists for 12 total points that ranked second for the Owls. Mohamed's six assists tied for the lead in the Soccer Six and helped him in earning a spot on the Soccer Six All-Rookie Team. Classmate Hermann Doerner also grabbed a spot on the All-Rookie team for his performance in 2015.
Goalkeeper Alex Cagle ended the season with a 1.18 goals against average that marked him as the Soccer 6 Goals Against Average Leader.
Both Gomez Sanchez and Carlos Moros Gracia were named to the Soccer Six All-Star Team.
