NFL Scouts Attend Temple Pro Day in Record Numbers

PHILADELPHIA – In front of 39 professional scouts, representing 26 NFL teams and one CFL club, and dozens of media members, 17 student-athletes from the 2015 Temple Owls participated in the University's annual Pro Day. Over 40 more players – former Temple Owls and others from nearby schools - also participated as they were put through the same rigorous drills that are presented at the NFL Combine.

DT Matt Ioannidis, LB Tyler Matakevich and DB Tavon Young, all of whom participated at the NFL Combine in February, took part in some of the drills. But two players who created a buzz were OL Kyle Friend and WR Robby Anderson. Friend bench pressed 225-lbs. 41 times – the most at this year's Combine was 34. Anderson ran a 4.34 40-yard dash.

OL Shabaz Ahmed, DB Boye Aromire, FB Michael Felton, DB Will Hayes, OL Eric Lofton, TE Saledeem Major, K/P Tyler Mayes, WR Brandon Shippen, DL Nate D. Smith, DL Hershey Walton, DB Alex Wells, and RB Roy Wesley were also put through the paces and opened up the eyes of several scouts.

The next steps for these young men may be taken when the NFL Draft occurs on April 28-30.

Ioannidis, Matakevich, and Young participated in the NFL Combine and therefore, did not repeat several drills at Temple's Pro Day.
