7.15.16 | Men's Basketball

PHILADELPHIA  – Temple men's basketball announced its 2016-17 full non-conference schedule with the Owls' 13-game slate highlighted by a trip to the Barclays Center for the NIT Season Tip-Off.

Philadelphia Big 5 rival La Salle will serve as the team's opener as the Explorers come to the Liacouras Center for a November 11 contest.  It is one of seven home non-conference games in the Liacouras Center that is celebrating its 20th season as the Owls' home.

Home games with New Hampshire (Nov. 14) and Manhattan (Nov. 20), both part of the NIT Season Tip-Off, sandwich a trip to Amherst, Mass., to take on former Atlantic 10 Conference rival UMass (Nov. 17).

The Owls then head to Brooklyn for the NIT Season Tip-Off where they will play Florida State on Thanksgiving Day (Nov. 24, 12:30 pm) on either ESPNU or ESPN2.  Temple will play either West Virginia or Illinois the next day (Nov. 25) with the third place game tipping off at 12:30 pm (ESPNU) and the championship at 3:00 pm (ESPN2).  Temple then closes out the month of November with a road trip to Saint Joseph's on the 30th.

December opens with two home games as the Cherry and White host Big 5 rival Penn on Dec. 3 before welcoming another former A-10 opponent, George Washington, to the Liacouras Center for a Dec. 7 contest.  The Owls then head south for the 2016 Hoophall Miami Invitational for a Dec. 10 game at AmericanAirlines Arena against DePaul.

Temple then closes its Big 5 schedule at Villanova on Dec. 13.  Home games against NJIT (Dec. 17) and Yale (Dec. 22) wrap up the team's non-conference slate.

Temple returns eight letterwinners and three starters from last year's team that posted a 21-12 record in winning the American Athletic Conference regular season title and advancing to the NCAA Tournament.

Deposits for season tickets can be made by calling the Temple University Athletics Ticket Office at 215-204-TIXX with "select" locations going on sale July 25.

The American Athletic Conference dates are expected to be announced in August.
