Gomez Sanchez Named American Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Following his five-point performance over the weekend, the American Athletic Conference has announced Jorge Gomez Sanchez as this week's Offensive Player of the Week. Freshman George McGee also received recognition as a member of this week's honor roll.
Gomez Sanchez has now scored a goal in every game of the 2016 season and has posted 10 total points. This past weekend, Gomez Sanchez scored the game-winner against Pittsburgh after the team fell behind 1-0 in the first half. Against Northeastern he posted a goal and an assist to help the Owls to their third shutout of the season.
McGee saw his first two games as an Owl this weekend and logged three points with one goal and one assist across the two matches. The Wolverhampton, England native earned his first career point when assisted on Gomez Sanchez's game-winner on Friday. His first career goal came against Northeastern when he booted in the Owls' second goal.
Overall, Temple stands as the only team in the conference with a 4-0 record. Memphis sits behind the Owls at 3-1.
The Owls now look towards their first away game of the season. Travelling on Saturday, Sep. 10, the team faces Rider at 7 p.m. on the Broncs' Ben Cohen Field.
