Women's Rowing Sweeps Lehigh to Open Spring

PHILADELPHIA -- The Temple women's rowing team opened the 2017 spring racing season with a sweep over Lehigh on the Schuylkill River. Temple grabbed victories in the varsity eight, second varsity eight, and varsity four races, rowing out of their newly renovated boathouse for the first time.
In varsity eight racing, Temple recorded a time of 6:47.88, to take an open water victory over Lehigh's time of 7:02.84. In the second varsity eight race, the Owls nabbed a 12 second victory, finishing in 7:00.21. Lehigh's 2V took second in 7:12.96 and Temple's novice eight had an excellent race, finishing in 7:16.87.
In fours racing, Temple's crews were neck-in-neck to the finish, with the "B" boat finishing just ahead of the "A" boat, 7:48.79 to 7:49.17. Both boats were well ahead of Lehigh's 8:22.80.
Temple is back in action on Saturday, hosting the 2017 Murphy Cup Regatta.
