3.11.18 | Women's Lacrosse

PHILADELPHIA - In the final non-conference game of the 2018 season, Temple lacrosse (4-3) will host city rival La Salle (2-3) at 3 p.m. on Monday, March 12. The Owls are set to begin BIG EAST Conference play at home against #20 Denver on Sunday, March 18.

Scouting Temple
> Monday's game is the third of five straight home games for the Owls, who will play a total of 11 (of 17) games at Howarth Field in 2018.
> The Owls have had an up and down start to the season, winning two in a row before going 2-2 in their last four games. Two of the three losses were to teams ranked in the IWLCA Top 10 - #9 Princeton and #7 James Madison.
> Most recently, the Owls used a huge second half to take down future American Athletic Conference foe ECU, 15-6. Up just 6-5 at the break, Temple started the second half with a 9-0 run and allowed the Pirates only one goal after that stretch.
> The Owls' leader in points in the ECU win was freshman Jackie Cerchio with two goals to go with a career-high five assists. Both junior Amber Lambeth and sophomore Maddie Gebert scored four goals apiece, while senior Kira Gensler, back from three games out due to injury, scored two goals and added two assists.
> Head Coach Bonnie Rosen recorded her 100th Temple win at Lafayette. Rosen is in her 12th season at the helm with a career record of 169-176 (22nd year) and a 101-95 record at Temple.
> Sophomore goalkeeper Maryn Lowell tied her career high with 17 saves in the loss to Princeton. Lowell has 68 saves so far this season, the third-most of any player in NCAA Division I, with her 9.71 saves per game ranking 20th.
> Team captains for 2018, as voted on by the Owls, are Gensler and fellow senior Nicole Latgis along with sophomore Kara Nakrasius. Latgis, a defender and 2017 BIG EAST Second Team honoree, was a unanimous selection to the 2018 BIG EAST Preseason Team.

On This Day...
> In 1998 - Alex Ovchinnikoff scored eight goals and added three assists in a 27-0 shutout of Duquesne, and stands third all-time in program history in most points in a game with 11.
> In 2010 - The Owls outshot the Jacksonville Dolphins 34-18 for a strong 12-4 win. The team notched 38 ground balls with senior defender Tracy Zimmer leading the defensive stats with six ground balls and two caused turnovers.
> In 2016 - Temple won its seventh straight game as 12 different players notched points in a 16-4 victory against city rival Saint Joseph's.

Scouting La Salle
> After starting the year 0-2, the Explorers had won two straight before falling 11-10 in overtime vs. Vanderbilt on March 8.
> Two players have carried the scoring load for La Salle - senior attacker Brittany Edwards (16 goals) and freshman midfielder Bridget Ruskey (14 goals). Edwards is also the team leader in assists with five, totaling 21 points.
> Last year, La Salle finished 7-11 and lost to Richmond in the Atlantic 10 Tournament quarterfinals.

All-Time Series
> Temple and La Salle are meeting for the 20th time, with the Owls holding a 15-4 lead.
> The Owls have won three straight, including a 13-10 road win a year ago.
> La Salle's last win came in 2014 by a score of 7-4 at Temple.
