Gymnastics Closes out Regular Season at Kent State

PHILADELPHIA – Rounding out the regular season, the Temple gymnastics team heads to Kent State on Friday, Mar. 16. The Golden Flashes will host the Owls along with No. 18 George Washington. Temple hopes to build off the momentum of last weekend's record-breaking scores. The tri-meet is set for a 7 p.m. start at Kent State's Memorial Athletic and Convocation Center.

Last Time Out
> Temple posted a program record 196.05 at its final home meet on Mar. 11.
> Sophomore Jaylene Everett led the squad to their highest-ever floor exercise score of 49.300 with her individual career-high score of 9.925.
> Senior co-captain Sahara Gipson tied for first on vault with a 9.875. Overall Temple logged a 49.05 vault score.
> Temple tallied a 48.65 led by senior Alexa Phillip and sophomore Daisy Todd with a pair of season-best 9.825's
> The Owls reached a new balance beam record of 49.05 led by Todd and junior co-captain Breahna Wiczkowski with another pair of 9.825's.
 
Scouting the Owls
 > Temple remains at No. 1 in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) and fifth in the North East region with a team RQS of 194.875. The Owls head into the weekend of competition with an 18-10 record.
> The Owls rank fourth in the region on both vault (48.795) and floor exercise (48.98).
> Gipson holds the squads' highest RQS on vault with a 9.825. On Bars, Todd and freshmanTori Edwards share the team's best RQS with a pair of 9.765. Freshman Delaney Garin leads on beam with a 9.790. On floor, Everett and Edwards lead with RQS's of 9.845.

Scouting the Colonials
> George Washington ranks 18th in the nation and first in the EAGL with an RQS of 196.460.  The colonials rank 10th in the country on vault, 12th on beam, and 13th on floor.
> The Colonials' highest individual vault RQS comes from Camille Drouin-Allaire with a 9.910.  Drouin-Allaire also has the highest floor RQS of 9.9. Jillian Winstaley leads on bars and beam with a 9.865 and 9.880, respectively.
> In its last competition on Mar. 11, George Washington topped Pittsburgh and West Virginia with a 196.825.
 
Scouting the Golden Flashes
> Kent State ranks 35th in the nation, seventh in the central region, and second in the MAC with a team RQS of 195.600.
> Rachel Stypinski holds the highest RQS on beam (9.905), bars (9.915), and floor (9.9) with an all-around RQS of 39.450. Kent State's highest individual vault RQS comes from Abby Fletcher with a 9.795.
> On Mar. 9 against Bowling Green, the Golden Flashes posted a 196.625 to top the Falcons.
