Field Hockey Continues to Excel in the Classroom; Named a Division I National Academic Team
3.20.18 | Field Hockey
PHILADELPHIA - Each year under Temple head coach Marybeth Freeman, the Owls have been honored as a Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA Division I National Academic Team, and 2017-18 is no exception.
Temple is one of 74 programs to earn the honor, recognizing those programs that earned a team GPA of 3.0 or higher during the Fall Semester of the 2017-18 academic year.Â
The Owls were well above that mark with an impressive 3.53 cumulative GPA in the fall.
"We place a lot of emphasis on having a strong academic presence within our hockey program," said Temple head coach Marybeth Freeman. "Over the past three fall seasons, our team has posted the three highest team GPAs within the last 10 years. It's a testament to our student-athletes' ability to manage their time and balance the "student" aspect of being a student-athlete. I'm incredibly proud of each of our athletes for all of their academic accomplishments."
Later this week, NFHCA will announce the Division I Scholars of Distinction. Next week, the Division I National Academic Squad will also be announced.
