Lacrosse's Maryn Lowell Named IWLCA National Player of the Week

PHILADELPHIA - Temple sophomore goalkeeper Maryn Lowell has earned the highest weekly honor in the sport of lacrosse, as she was named the IWLCA National Defensive Player of the Week for the week of March 12-18.

The award is the third for Lowell this week, and fourth in two weeks. She earned back-to-back BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week honors, and was also named the Under Armour OwlSports.com Athlete of the Week.

Lowell posted a 2-0 record in the cage for the Owls with two double-digit save performances. She made 13 saves in the Owls' 8-4 win vs. city rival La Salle on March 12, also recording four ground balls. She added 12 more saves in Temple's 10-9 upset of No. 22/16 Denver in the BIG EAST opener on March 18, including the final save with 20 seconds left to prevent overtime.

For the week, Lowell made 25 saves to just 13 goals allowed, playing every minute in goal and recording a save percentage of .658. This season, Lowell's 93 total saves rank second among all players in NCAA Division I.
