Gymnastics Shatters Program Record 195.800 and Tops Floor Exercise Record at Friday's Tri-Meet

PHILADELPHIA – Temple gymnastics notched a program record 195.800 and broke its floor exercise record with a 49.150 on Friday as the Owls faced Penn and Maryland. The Terrapins finished in first, posting a 195.975. Temple finished just behind in second and Penn placed third with a 193.625.
 
Highlights
> Temple topped its team score record with its first score over 195 in program history.
> The Owls' top score came on floor where the squad pulled a 49.150-team floor score; the highest in program history.
> Freshman Tori Edwards tied for first on floor with a career-best 9.9, the highest individual score of 2018. Edwards is just the third Owl in Temple history to earn a 9.9 on the floor exercise, earning the highest individual floor score in six years. 
 
Vault
>Temple opened the meet on vault, posting three scores of 9.8 or higher to combine for 49.025.
> Sophomore Jaylene Everett led the Owls with a career-high 9.875 vault score, placing third overall.
> Senior Sahara Gipson tied for fourth with a season-best 9.850.
 
Bars
> On the uneven bars Temple pulled a 48.825.
> Temple's top scorers were Edwards and senior Alexa Phillip with a pair of 9.825's.
> Sophomore Daisy Todd was the Owls' third-best finisher with a 9.775 while junior co-captain Breahna Wiczkowski added a 9.725.
 
Beam
> Next on the balance beam, Temple tallied a 48.800 led by freshman Delaney Garin's score of 9.825.
> Freshman Jordyn Oster notched a season-high beam score of 9.8.
> Kerra Masella and Wiczkowski contributed a 9.775 and a 9.725, respectively.
 
Floor

> The Owls really picked up momentum on floor with five Owls scoring a 9.7 or higher
> After Edwards' fantastic show of a 9.9, Everett averaged a 9.875 to tie her career-high.
> Junior India Anderson grabbed a career-best 9.850 for her performance while Gipson added an impressive 9.85.
