Track & Field to Host First-Ever Home Meet at the Temple Sports Complex

PHILADELPHIA – On Friday, April 13 Temple track and field will host its first-ever track meet at the Temple Sports Complex. Featuring both high school and collegiate athletes, the action is set for a 2 p.m. start at Temple's Dan and Shelley Boyce Track beginning with the pole vault. Hammer, javelin, discus, and shot put events will take place at Penn's Franklin Field starting at 1 p.m. Olympian and Temple graduate Ajee Wilson is set to race in the 800-meter run along with four other special guests.
Last Time Out
> On April 6 at the Sam Howell Invitational, freshman Candus Burks earned the individual triple jump title with a personal best mark of 11.39m, improving from her prior best mark of 9.87m. Burks' leap of 5.62m in the long jump earned her second place overall.
> Sophomore Ebonee Jackson placed second in the 400-meter hurdles with a personal-best time of 1:02.31.
> Junior Katie Leisher ran a personal-best time of 17:01.36 to earn a spot in the top 10, placing eighth overall in the seeded 5000m.
Scouting the Owls
> Slated for the high jump is freshman Aisha Brown. Brown currently holds the program's best high jump mark of the season so far at 1.78m, a regional qualifying mark.
>Jackson holds Temple's fastest times of the season in both the 100-meter hurdles (14.23) and 400-meter hurdles (1:02.31). The sophomore will compete in both races on Friday.
> At the 2017 American Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships, sophomore Millie Howard placed third overall in the 800-meter run with a regional qualifying time of 2:08.32. Howard will toe the line for the 800m on Friday.
> Temple earned its highest American Indoor finish since joining the conference at the 2018 American Indoor Championships, placing sixth out of the 12 women's teams on Feb. 24.
