Golf in 7th Place after First Round of AAC Championship

PALM HARBOR, Fla. – Junior Gary McCabe and freshman Dawson Anders each shot a two-over 73 to pace Temple Golf in the first round of play at the 2018 American Athletic Conference Championship, presented by Visit St. Pete/Clearwater. As a team the Owls were a 12-over 296 to place 7th of the 10 teams competing at the par-71, 7,125-yard Copperhead Course at the Innisbrook Resort & Golf Club.
Tournament Notes
> McCabe and Anders are tied for 16th overall, just three shots back of the leader, Cincinnati's Davis Baxter (70).
> Anders had five birdies on the day, tying for the most among the 50-competitors.
> Redshirt junior John Barone was next for the Owls with a three-over 74 to tie for 22nd overall
> Junior Trey Wren, who had three birdies on the day, rounded out the TU scorers with a five-over 76 to tie for 37th overall.
> USF, ranked 21st in the nation, had four golfers shoot even par and leads the field with a 284. UCF is in second, five shots off the pace (289) with SMU (290) one stroke back in third.
