5.11.18 | Women's Lacrosse
PHILADELPHIA - The list of honors continues to grow for Temple lacrosse senior defender Nicole Latgis, who has now been named to the IWLCA All Mid-Atlantic Region Second Team after an outstanding season in the backfield for the Owls.
Latgis was already named to the BIG EAST Conference First Team, after being named to the Preseason All-BIG EAST Team at the start of the season. She was among the league's very top defenders all year long, and her numbers proved it. She led all players in the BIG EAST with 2.24 caused turnovers per game and 3.18 ground balls per game, ranking 11th in NCAA Division I in caused turnovers and 14th in ground balls. She finished the season with 38 caused turnovers to rank fourth all-time at Temple in a single season. With 64 caused turnovers in her career, Latgis ranks eighth all-time. Â
Also strong on the draw, Latgis tied for second on the team this year with 41 draw controls. She achieved her first career point as a senior with an assist in the Owls' 12-8 season-opening win vs. Rutgers. She was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on March 27 after the Owls upset #22 Denver and recorded a double-overtime win vs. Cincinnati.Â
Latgis is graduating this week with a degree in kinesiology, and was named to Temple's President's Honor Roll for a second year in a row for achieving a GPA of 3.5 or above.
