PHILADELPHIA -- A historical day for the Temple men's crew team saw the Owls sweep the heavyweight eight, junior varsity eight, and freshman eight events at the 2018 Dad Vail Regatta. Temple also grabbed bronze in the lightweight eight to round out a fantastic day on the Schuylkill River.

HISTORICALLY
> Temple's sweep of the eights in the point events is believed to be the first time in the 80 years of the Dad Vail that a team has accomplished that feat.
> The Owls' gold is the first for the program in the heavyweight eight race since the 2004 regatta, and the Owls did it in a Dad Vail record time of 5:34.409.
> Second-year head coach Brian Perkins earns his first ever Dad Vail heavyweight eight gold as a coach.
> As a team, the Owls finished second in the men's point standings and third overall, even without the Temple women competing at the event.

VARSITY EIGHT
> Temple had a four-seat lead by the time they passed the Owls' boathouse and they did not let up, walking away with the gold.
> The Owls finished in 05:34.409, nearly three seconds ahead of runner-up Saint Joseph's (05:37.005). Colgate took bronze (05:37.197), followed by Delaware (05:40.671), Virginia  (05:43.213), and Michigan (05:43.568).

JUNIOR VARSITY EIGHT
> Temple won the Ernie Bayer Trophy with a gold medal performance in the second varsity eight, as the Owls clocked in at 05:46.884 dispatching runner-up St. Joseph's time of 05:47.748. 
> Delaware (05:51.170) took bronze, while Drexel (05:51.371), MIT (05:58.254), and Virginia (06:04.450) rounded out the field.

FRESHMAN EIGHT
> Temple edged Delaware in a tight race for the Toby Wallace Bowl, as the Owls grabbed gold in 05:56.479. 
> Delaware (05:57.581) got the silver and Michigan (06:02.124), the bronze, followed by Drexel (06:04.052), Virginia (06:12.077), and Minnesota (06:18.825).

LIGHTWEIGHT EIGHT
> The Owls grabbed bronze in a tight finals race for the lightweight eight medals. Temple finished in 05:43.939, just .24 seconds behind Delaware's silver medal time of 05:43.915. 
> Mercyhurst took gold in the event in 05:40.870, while Brock finished fourth in 05:55.554.

THIRD VARSITY EIGHT
> Temple grabbed sixth overall in a deep field in the third varsity eight, clocking in at 06:16.062. 

VARSITY FOUR
> The Owls finished fourth in the petite final in a time of 06:51.863, finishing 10th overall.
