Rowing Ties Best-Ever Finish at AAC Championships

PENNSAUKEN, N.J. -- The Temple women's rowing team tied its best-ever finish, taking third place overall at the 2018 American Athletic Conference Championships. The Owls finished third or higher in four of the six races, coming away with three bronze medals.

TEAMWORK
> The Owls combined for 148 team points to take third behind only UCF (209) and Tulsa (160). The Owls edged SMU's 144 points to take third, while Sacramento State (116), San Diego State (95), and UConn (67) rounded out the field.
> Temple secured three bronze medals, coming away with hardware in the second varsity eight, the varsity four, and the second varsity four.

VARSITY EIGHT
> The Owls took fourth place in a photo finish, recording a time of 7:08.66 to edge SDSU's 7:08.67 in fifth. UCF, Tulsa, and SMU were the top three, while Sacramento State and UConn rounded out the field.

SECOND VARSITY EIGHT
> The Owls came away with the program's first ever medal in the second varsity eight category, finishing third in a time of 7:29.12. UCF took top honors, followed by Sacramento State. The Owls also topped Tulsa, SMU, San Diego State and UConn in the race.

VARSITY FOUR
> Temple's varsity four medaled for just the second time in program history, as the Owls' time of 8:28.27 earned bronze behind only SMU and UCF. Tulsa, Sacramento State, UConn, and San Diego State rounded out the field.

THIRD VARSITY EIGHT
> The Owls grabbed third in a three team race, behind UConn and UCF.
> Line-up: Allie Rainey (C), Emma Alford (8), Gabrielle Gordon (7), Mary Margaret Gresham (6), Ava Lugo (5), Katie Kelly (4), Caroline Wilson (3), Jenna Rosado (2), Margaret Harte (B).

SECOND VARSITY FOUR
> The second varsity four took home the first medals of the afternoon for the Owls, taking third place in 8:38.07. Tulsa and UCF finsihed 1-2, while San Diego State, Sacramento State, SMU and UConn completed the field.

THIRD VARSITY FOUR
> A fifth place finish from the third varsity four kicked off the racing action for the Owls. Temple topped SMU and Sacramento State in the race, finishing behind SDSU, UCF, Tulsa, and UConn.

ALL-CONFERENCE HONOREES
> Temple senior Kelly McGee earned first team All-Conference honors.
> Senior Charlotte Forman and junior Gabriela Thomas picked up second team honors.
