5.16.18 | Women's Soccer
PHILADELPHIA – Temple Women's Soccer announced its 2018 schedule and the challenging slate is highlighted by a home match against Big 10 foe Maryland and a road trip to ACC member Boston College as well as the always tough American Athletic Conference opponents.
"I am very excited about the challenges we will face with our 2018 schedule.," said sixth-year head coach Seamus O'Connor. "We have a difficult start to our American Athletic Conference Conference schedule, with two games in Texas, and to help us prepare for this, we increased the difficulty of our non-conference schedule by adding an ACC and a Big 10 opponent. This will allow us to be battle tested before we start the rigors of our American Conference schedule"
After exhibition matches at Lafayette (Aug. 7) and home against Drexel (Aug. 12), the Owls open their non-conference schedule with a home match against city-rival Saint Joseph's (Aug. 17). It is the first of nine matches at the Temple Sports Complex.
The Cherry and White hosts Sacred Heart the following week (Aug. 24) before traveling to Delaware State on Aug. 26. Temple then closes out August with a Friday night (Aug. 31, 7 pm) match against Maryland.
The Owls' final non-conference home match is against Central Connecticut State on Labor Day Sunday (Sept. 2).
A trip to Lehigh (Sept. 7) starts a tough stretch of six straight road contests. The Owls will play at Boston College on Sunday, Sept. 9 and end their non-conference slate the following weekend at NJIT (Sept. 14) and Wagner (Sept. 16).
The Texas trip is next for the squad with the conference opener in Dallas against SMU (Sept. 20) followed by Houston (Sept. 23).
Temple's AAC home opener comes against 2017 regular season champion UCF (Sept. 27) with the 2017 AAC Tournament champion USF (Sept. 30) three days later.
The Owls then have a bye week before traveling to Cincinnati (Oct. 11) and East Carolina (Oct. 14) for their final road trip of the regular season.
Temple closes out the schedule with home matches against Tulsa (Oct. 18), Memphis (Oct. 22) and UConn (Oct. 26).
