PHILADELPHIA - The Rimington Trophy Committee has released its 2018 Spring Watch List, which includes Temple redshirt sophomore Matt Hennessy. The Rimington Watch List recognizes the top centers in college football.

Hennessy (6-4, 295) is one of 27 repeat Watch List members and remains the youngest member on the Rimington List. In 2017, Hennessy was the list's only freshman when he started 12 of the Owls 13 games. A perfect blend of size, strength and intelligence, Hennessy leads the offensive line by making all the protection calls. Originally recruited by Harvard, he holds a 3.6 GPA in business management. The Bardonia, N.Y., native attended Don Bosco Prep.

In order to create this list, the committee accepted nominations from programs across the country that submitted their current starting centers for consideration. This preseason, centers were nominated from every conference, with 57 total nominees and 27 past watch listers.

About the Rimington Trophy
The Rimington Trophy is presented annually to the most outstanding center in NCAA Division I College Football. Since its inception, the seventeen-year old award has raised over $3.6 million for the Boomer Esiason Foundation, which is committed to finding a cure for cystic fibrosis.

Dave Rimington, the award's namesake, was a consensus first-team All-America center at the University of Nebraska in 1981 and 1982, during which time he became the John Outland Trophy's only two-time winner as the nation's finest college interior lineman.
