Track & Field Set for American Outdoor Championships in Cincinnati

PHILADELPHIA - After earning its highest-ever program finish of sixth at the American Athletic Conference Indoor Championships three months ago, Temple women's track & field looks to repeat that feat at the AAC Outdoor Championships set for Friday-Sunday, May 11-13 at the University of Cincinnati.
AAC Outdoor Day One
> The Owls will have representatives in four events on May 11, including one final. The action for Temple begins in the evening with the trials of the 800m run at 6 p.m.
> Sophomore Millie Howard, junior Ashton Dunkley and freshman Helene Gottlieb will all race in that first event. Howard holds the Owls' top time of the season of 2:07.67, ranking as the third-best time in the AAC in 2018.
> Freshman Mallorie Smith will compete in the 200m dash trials at 6:40 p.m., looking to improve on her top time of 24.99.
> Sophomore Ebonee Jackson, junior Crystal Jones and freshman Sydney Williams are slated to race in the 400m hurdles trials at 7:20 p.m. on Friday. Jackson's personal best time of 1:00.77 is the sixth-best in the AAC this year.
> Friday's action will conclude with the 10,000m run at 7:50 p.m. Junior Katie Leisher will represent Temple in that event, currently with the ninth-best time in the conference of 35:59.21.
AAC Outdoor Day Two
> Freshman Candus Burks will get the Owls started on Saturday, competing in the long jump at 5 p.m. Her best mark this season of 5.62m is in the top 20 in the AAC.
> The running events for Temple will also begin at 5 p.m., with Jackson and Williams competing in the trials of the 100m hurdles. Jackson brings in the conference's eighth-best time of 13.91 from the Penn Relays.
> At 5:40 p.m. on Saturday, Howard, Gottlieb, sophomore Grace Moore and senior Katie Pinson will compete in the trials of the 1,500m run. All four have posted times that rank in the top 15 in the AAC, with Howard's best time of 4:21.02 ranking second-best and already earning her a chance to compete at the NCAA East Region Preliminary at the end of the month.
> Smith will follow up her appearance in the 200m trials from Friday with the 400m trials on Saturday at 6:10 p.m.
> The Owls' action on Saturday concludes with the 3,000m Steeplechase at 7:35 p.m. Freshman Lucy Jones, Moore and Pinson are all slated to race, and all have top-eight times in the AAC. Jones' best time of 10:40.43 from the Ole Miss Classic ranks fourth and is Temple's school record. Moore's time of 10:40.61 ranks fifth and Pinson's best time of 10:51.37 ranks eighth.
AAC Outdoor Day Three
> Freshman Julianne Foering will be the first to compete for Temple on the third and final day, participating in the javelin throw at noon. Her best mark of 40.20m is the 12th-best in the AAC.
> Freshmen Aisha Brown and Kayla Nesbitt-McEwen will take on the high jump at 2 p.m. Brown has the AAC's third-best mark of 1.78 meters coming into the meet, which has already qualified her to compete at the NCAA East Region Preliminary.
> Burks will represent the Owls in the triple jump at 5 p.m., concluding the field events for Temple.
> Dunkley, Smith, Jackson and Williams will race in the 4x400m relay at 4:30 p.m.
> Finals of the 1,500m, the 100m hurdles, the 400m, the 800m, the 400m hurdles and the 200m dash will run from 4:45 p.m. to 6:25 p.m. for those Owls who qualify out of the trials in those events.
> The 5,000m run is the final event for the Owls and will take place at 6:40 p.m. for Leisher and freshman Michelle Joyce. Leisher's best time of 17:01.36 currently ranks ninth in the AAC.
> The awards ceremony will conclude the three-day conference meet at 8:10 p.m.
