Millie Howard Named to Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Women’s Track & Field Team

6.15.18 | Women's Track and Field

PHILADELPHIA - Temple track & field's Millie Howard is one of 11 student-athletes selected to the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Women's Track & Field Team, as voted on by the sports information offices of 30 institutions from the Philadelphia metropolitan area. Villanova's Siofra Cleirigh Buttner was named the 2017-18 Philadelphia Inquirer All-Area Women's Track & Field Performer of the Year.

Howard is a sophomore economics major with an impressive GPA of 3.96. She recently represented the Owls at the NCAA East Regional, just barely missing out on qualifying for the 2018 NCAA Championships in the 1,500 meter. She placed second in that event at the American Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships.

During the indoor season, Howard won the AAC Indoor Championships in the mile run, and won the 3,000 meter title at the Penn State National in January. Moving to the outdoor track, Howard set a school record in the 800 meter at the Temple Owls Invite in April, and was part of school-record distance medley and sprint medley relay teams at the Penn Relays.

Howard and Buttner are joined on the Philadelphia Inquirer All-Area Team by Villanova's Nicole Hutchinson, Kim Johnson of Rowan, Nicole Weenink of Eastern, Allison Reuter of Widener, Jackie Sullivan and Nicole Giannetti of Haverford, Jackie D'Amico of Immaculata and Anna Peyton Malizia from the University of Pennsylvania.
