Geasey Field

Home of Temple Field Hockey and Lacrosse

After a year-and-a-half project that was completed in September, 2009, Temple athletic teams had a brand new turf at Geasey Field.

Geasey Field is home to one of the largest permanent Astroturf surfaces in the world, covering more than 156,000 square-feet. The project, which cost over $1 million, was unveiled when the Temple field hockey team played host to Albany on September 20, 2009.

The turf on the new field, Astroturf 12, is popular among field hockey and lacrosse players for the smoothness of its surface and increased speed of players. Astroturf 12 is engineered with a premium knitted nylon system, designed to provide uniform traction and consistent footing. It improves playability when wet and absorbs water to maintain wet conditions. The new surface is completely flat which helps maximize the game for both lacrosse and field hockey.

During the 2010 Temple lacrosse season, a brand-new state-of-the-art wireless scoreboard was unveiled, generously donated by Greg and Cherifa Howarth (‘98). Cherifa Howarth (formerly Cherifa Nouri) played field hockey at Temple from 1993-97. Her 33 career goals rank ninth all-time in the history of the program.
