Temple has been picked to visit first in the Atlantic 10 East Division in voting conducted by the league's head coaches in the Atlantic 10 volleyball preseason poll released today. The Owls were tabbed to seize their fourth consecutive division title, while Saint Louis was picked to finish first in the West Division.
Temple University head volleyball coach Bob Bertucci will be inducted into the YMCA Volleyball Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2007, announced by the YMCA of the USA. A member of the YMCA for nearly 50 years, Bertucci's induction will be held at a luncheon scheduled in conjunction with the USA Volleyball Open Championships on Saturday, May 24, at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in Atlanta, Ga. Senior outside hitter Yue Liu and sophomore setter Jackie Morrison both posted double-doubles for the second straight game, allowing Temple volleyball to defeat UC Irvine, 3-1, and end its season on a winning note on Saturday afternoon. Liu had 18 kills and 14 digs, while Jackie Morrison had 10 digs and 56 assists. The Owls finish the season with a 16-20 overall record, 9-4 in the Atlantic 10, while UC Irvine falls to 21-11.
