Shameka Marshall has served as an assistant coach of the Temple Men's and Women's Track & Field teams since October, 2008.
A 2006 graduate of Rutgers, Marshall arrived on North Broad after serving as volunteer assistant coach at her alma mater for two seasons. An accomplished long jumper while at Rutgers, Marshall is a two-time All-American and the 2006 ECAC Outstanding Athlete in Indoor and Outdoor Track and Mid-Atlantic Athlete of the year in 2005 while competing for the Scarlet Knights. She was also the NCAA indoor national runner-up in the long jump in 2006.
In international competition most recently, Marshall represented the USA in 2011 at the Pan American games held in Guadalajara, Mexico, taking silver in the long jump event with a leap of 22’1”. In 2007, she was a member of the US team that captured the gold at the NACACs in El Salvador. She also finished seventh on Team USA at the Pan American Games, Rio de Janeiro, in 2007.
Marshall finished an impressive 8th place at the USA Olympic Trials in 2012, and seventh in 2008. She was a seventh-place finisher in the long jump at the 2010 Indoor USA Championship in Albuquerque, N.M., and also a fourth-place finisher at the 2010 Outdoor USA Championships in Des Moines, Iowa, where she also landed 22'1". Marshall was the national runner-up in the long jump at the USA Indoor Championships in 2008.
Marshall has served as adjunct professor the last four fall semesters for Temple's Kinesiology department.
