Marquise Stancil, a 2009 Temple University track & field alum who continued to work with the program in various capacities, joined the staff full-time as an assistant coach in July, 2013. Stancil will work primarily as a sprints and hurdles coach for the program as the Owls enter their first season in the newly-created American Athletic Conference.

Stancil served as a graduate assistant for the team in the 2012-13 season, and is continuing to work toward a master’s degree at Temple in urban education. After he earned a bachelor’s degree from Temple in secondary education/mathematics in 2009, Stancil worked as a volunteer assistant coach with the program for three years.

As a member of the track & field team from 2004-09, Stancil was a multiple IC4A qualifier in the 400m, 500m, 4x400m relay and 4x800m relay. His 400m and 500m times are among the top performances in program history, and in 2009 he was party of the 4x800m relay that set a school record.

Stancil was named the team’s Rookie of the Year as a freshman. He went on to earn Indoor MVP honors in 2007-08, and earned the Alex Bonnie Track Award for sportsmanship and leadership in 2008-09.
