The 2013 season marked TU’s final year in the Atlantic 10, and the Owls made it a memorable one. In addition to establishing a school record for wins with a 32-26 final mark, junior Stephanie Pasquale became the first softball player in Temple history to earn All-America status with her selection to the NFCA?Division I Third Team. In addition, Pasquale was tabbed the A-10 Player of the Year and joined Sarah Prezioso?(1st team), Ali Robinson (2nd team), Kelsey Dominik (rookie) and Annie Marcopolus (rookie) on all-league squads. The team finished third in the conference tournament. As a team, the Cherry & White set a school and conference record with 94 homeruns, a number that led the NCAA?in the regular-season.
The 2012 squad posted a 27-22 overall record, becoming just the eighth team in school history to reach 27 wins. The Owls went 12-6 in A-10 play, good enough for the third seed at the conference championship. Two players, Stephanie Pasquale and Sarah Prezioso, earned first-team all-conference honors, while Meaghan Marley and Samantha Schoell both earn spots on the Academic All-Conference team and the Capital One Academic All-District 2 University Division First Team.
In 2011, DiPietro led Temple back to the Atlantic 10 Tournament for the first time since the 2007 season. Under his tutelage, the Owls posted a 22-23 overall record and a 12-6 mark in A-10 play for a fourth place regular-season finish. Freshman Stephanie Pasquale was tabbed the A-10 Rookie of the Year, becoming the first TU player to garner the award since 2002. In addition, three other Temple players earned spots on the all-league teams;?Rachel Knable and Sarah Prezioso, as well as Pasquale, on the second team and Kristen Marris as an honorable mention. Pasquale and Prezioso were also named all-rookie selections.
In 2010, DiPietro led his squad to a 19-30 record overall and an 8-12 mark in Atlantic 10 play. For the second-straight year, earning a spot in the conference playoffs came down to the final weekend and extra innings, and the Owls came up just short. Danielle Fagan was named to the A-10 all-conference second-team, and the season produced two academic all-conference team members in Michelle Lerner and Samantha Schoell.
In DiPietro’s first campaign with the Cherry and White, the squad posted a 15-25 overall record and narrowly missed conference playoffs with a 6-8 mark. His coaching produced an Atlantic 10 Rookie Team selection, as well as a member of the Academic All-Atlantic 10 team in 2010 graduate Krystle Metzler.
In his six seasons with the Explorers, DiPietro guided his charges to 77 wins, with the 2008 squad posting the most victories (22) since 1997. La Salle ended the 2008 campaign on a high note, sweeping Fordham for the first time since 1997, and recording a 22-24 mark, 8-12 in league play.
Prior to La Salle, DiPietro served 25 seasons as softball coach at Camden Catholic High School, spending the last 15 as the head coach. During his tenure, DiPietro amassed a 274-98 record, and led the Irish to three New Jersey State Championships (1991, 1992, 1993). His 1991 and 1992 squads were voted the area's top-ranked team by both the Philadelphia Inquirer and the Courier-Post. In addition, DiPietro, the winningest coach in Camden Catholic softball history, was tabbed the South Jersey Softball Coaches Association Coach of the Year in 1991. He was inducted into the Camden Catholic Hall of Fame in April of 2014.
DiPietro, who graduated from Gloucester County College and Camden Catholic, has also coached with the Philadelphia Force of the National Pro Fastpitch League, the South Jersey Hurricanes Amateur Softball Association 18-and-under tournament team and the All-Star Trophies ASA Class A tournament team.
