“Handy Andy” Tomasic was a triple threat football player at Temple from 1939 to 1941 and an outstanding pitcher for the baseball team. The Hokendauqua, Pa. product erased football records set by the Swede Hanson, Dave Smukler and Grover Wearshing who were all Temple Hall of Fame members. He was captain of the 1941 grid team and his outstanding career included two records at the time: most yards rushing, career, 1965, and total offense, career, 4532 yards. His 130 points stood as a Temple career record for 27 years. He earned all-East honors as a junior and senior and in 1942 played in the North-South and College all star games. He won 11 straight games for the Owl baseball team in 1940. After his graduation, Andy played both pro football and baseball. He and his wife Elaine are the parents of two children.
