Stegmuller, Agnes

Agnes Stegmuller

Agnes Stegmuller was a four sport letterwinner from 1943 to1945. She was the captain of the softball team, played varsity field hockey and badminton and contributed to the basketball teams' three consecutive undefeated seasons. She was selected innumerable times to All-Philadelphia hockey and lacrosse teams. In 1958, Agnes was the U.S. national team goalkeeper for field hockey. As a national team player, manager and official, she toured England, Bermuda and Germany from1958-70. She was one of two women to receive three Silver Bowl Awards for 25 years officiating on the Philadelphia board of Women Officials. She was the U.S. Olympic Committee Site and Selection Chairperson of 1974-75. After that, she became the chairperson of the Health and Physical Education Department at John Bartram High School where she taught for 33 years.
