Al Golden
- Induction:
- 2020
if you ask any knowledgeable Temple fan how the Owls went from 30 years of not competing in a Bowl game to becoming regular participants, the answer would be Al Golden. Â
Â
Credited with resurrecting the Temple football program, Golden led the Owls to their first bowl appearance in 30 years, the 2009 Eagle Bank Bowl. In 2009, he led the Owls to a school record nine consecutive wins and was named the Mid-American Conference Coach of the Year. That team rewrote 18 school season records.Â
Â
Currently an assistant coach with the Cincinnati Bengals, Golden took over a program that had not won a game the previous season and only three contests the prior three years to tying the then school-record for wins in consecutive seasons with 17 in his final two seasons at the helm.
