Four-year participant in hockey, basketball, and tennis, Alice Putman Willets was selected to all-college hockey team for four years. She played 10 years of hockey for all-Philadelphia, Middle Atlantic and U.S. teams. She was the captain of all-college, Philadelphia and U.S. Hockey teams. She played lacrosse for 10 years for all-Philadelphia and U.S. teams. She captained the all-Philadelphia and U.S. teams in 1955 and coached the all-Philadelphia in 1955-56. She introduced lacrosse to Temple and coached for 3 years. She was the originator, sponsor and director of Girl's Athletics at Swarthmore High School since 1962. As hockey coach posted 100-10 record, she had five undefeated seasons and six Section III Championships. She was elected an Outstanding Educator of America in 1974.
