Anne McConaghie Volp

One of Temple's finest all-around athletes, Anne McConaghie Volp was a three-sport athlete during her collegiate career, competing in field hockey, swimming and diving and basketball.  A standout across all three sports, Volp posted an undefeated diving career against intercollegiate competition and was selected to the women's basketball All-College team in 1940 and 1943. In addition to her collegiate success, Volp was a 14-year member of the US field hockey team, captaining the squad five times.
After an illustrious career as an athlete, Volp shifted her focus to coaching, returning to her alma matter to lead the field hockey team for 15 years. During her 15-year tenure, Volp coached 20 student-athletes to All-America honors, one of the highest accolades in intercollegiate athletics. In addition to her stint as field hockey coach, Volp coached the Temple women's basketball team for the 1953-1954 season, leading the Owls to a 15-2 record. Immediately following the 1953-1954 season, Volp made the 1955 US touring team to London.
Aside from athletics, Volp has excelled in the academic space, earning two degrees from Temple as well as publishing several articles across multiple journals.Â
