One of the multi-talented athletes in Temple history, Bess Cramer Lightcap competed in field hockey, basketball, swimming, track and gymnastics. In 1918 she broke an AAU record in the hop, skip and jump while captain of the Temple track team. She became an outstanding figure in gymnastics and track and coached Olympians in both sports. She coached basketball for 32 years and field hockey for 40 years. She had a 244-104-88 hockey record. She was also an outstanding basketball official.
