While at Temple University in the mid-1950s, Beverly Durgin Grove was active in three sports. As a freshman, she helped spark an undefeated field hockey season in 1954. Overall, she compiled an impressive 23-7-1 slate as a field hockey player. She also played basketball and contributed to a 25-7-1 record. Each year, she was named to the All-College first team. As a senior and captain, she led the Temple team to an 8-1-0 slated season. In 1956 and 1957, Beverly received honorable mention on the United States field hockey team. The following year, she toured with the United States team to South Africa and Rhodesia. She also coached and instructed basketball, tennis, field hockey, and lacrosse.
