Bill Mendek finished his Temple career as the Owl’s leader in wins, saves, appearances, innings pitches and strikeouts. At the time he was Temple’s leader in wins with 30 (1981-1984), second in saves (12) and strikeouts (289), fifth in appearance (62) and fourth in innings pitched (301.2). He had a 10-4 record as a senior with a 2.33 ERA. He was also credited with four saves and had 120 strikeouts. He was drafted in the ninth round by the Seattle Mariners. Bill starred for West Catholic High School before coming to Temple and earned numerous honors.
