First woman hired to coach basketball and field hockey at Temple in 1917, Blanche Voorhees Brown coached basketball for nine years. Her team compiled 67 consecutive victories in 1919-1922 and was the Eastern Intercollegiate Basketball Champion in 1922. Her field hockey team went undefeated from 1923-1925. She served as Director of Women's Athletics for three years. She graduated from the Normal School of Physical Education in 1917 and received her Bachelor's degree in 1923. She was an instructor in Physical Education at Temple from 1919-1925; 1935-1937. She served as President of Philadelphia Board of Women Basketball Officials for 15 years.
